2018 AQA Mentoring Workshop: Mentors Wanted!

Share

Good news! AQA has received a grant from the AAA section mentoring grant program and will be holding a Diversity Speed-Mentoring Workshop at the 2018 AAA annual meeting in San Jose, CA.

The workshop aims to increase the diversity of active AQA membership by providing long-term, ongoing mentorship opportunities to a diverse group of junior queer scholars, including advanced graduate students (ABD) and early-career professionals (postdocs and pre-tenure track faculty, including visiting assistant professors and PhD-bearing adjunct faculty). Free lunch will be provided for workshop participants! More details and application instructions to follow in the summer after AAA acceptance notifications have been issued.

In the meantime, if you are registered for the 2018 AAA annual meeting and would like to be a mentor, please email Casey Miller (caseymiller@muhlenberg.edu) by Wednesday, May 2 so that we can include you in our initial proposal submission and avoid possible scheduling conflicts during the meeting. We are looking for approximately 10 to 12 late-career queer professionals (including current and former AQA board members) to participate in the workshop as mentors. We will continue recruiting mentors after May 2, but are facing a sudden deadline to register our event with AAA and wanted to invite people who are interested in being mentors to sign up early.

Thank you!
