Temple University’s Department of Anthropology seeks a medical anthropologist for a tenure-track assistant-professor position. We are primarily interested in candidates whose research and teaching interests focus on the interactive, discursive, and communicative aspects of medical/healing/therapeutic practices, including the ways in which health resources are distributed within and across communities. Preference will be given to candidates whose training and doctoral degrees are in anthropology, and whose research and teaching are empirically grounded, ethnographic in orientation, and strongly engaged with contemporary social theory.
Requirements include a Ph.D. at time of appointment, and a strong record of research and teaching experience. Application should include a letter with detailed description of research and teaching interests; curriculum vitae with contact information for three references; and one or two article-length examples of published research-based scholarly work. Applications should be submitted via Interfolio (Job # 46099, https://apply.interfolio.com/46099). If you do not have a dossier account with Interfolio, you will be prompted to create a free account prior to applying for the position.
