The Department of Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of African-American Studies and/or the African diaspora. The department welcomes scholars in a broad range of fields, with some preference for a focus on Black/critical race/trans feminisms or sexuality.
Duties include one required course and one elective course each semester, including a large general education introductory course; undergraduate and graduate student advising; and departmental and university-wide service.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Requirements:
Successful candidate must have the Ph.D. in hand by August 2018. Scholarly credentials and some teaching experience in Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies required. Field open, but preference to candidates whose work crosses traditional academic boundaries, drawing on history, literature, sociology, political science, ethnography, geography, cultural studies, philosophy, comparative literature, or feminist science and technology studies.
