Deadline: November 6, 2020
About: Traditionally, the Association for Queer Anthropology offers travel grants to graduate students and non-tenure stream faculty to attend the annual AAA meeting. This year, we are offering these fellowships as general and unqualified support for scholars and students in the United States to continue practicing queer anthropology. AQA is offering five grants of up to $400 each to support members of the AQA community. These grants are similar to the AAA emergency support grant programs run in April and September of this year. Participating in those programs, however, does not impact your eligibility to receive a grant this year.
Eligibility: Graduate students and non-tenure stream faculty based in the U.S. who practice queer anthropology (broadly defined) are invited to apply. You will need to be able to turn in a W-9 U.S. tax form in order to accept this award.
Application: To apply, please email the following two documents to aqa.cochairs@gmail.com: (1) a current CV; (2) a research statement, around 150 words. The application deadline is Friday, November 6. Current membership in AAA will not be a consideration.
We anticipate that there may be more need amongst AQA members than our ability to support people. This will lead to the fellowship committee to make difficult choices. We have tried to make an easy application that does not burden applicants.
