The Department of Anthropology at Tulane University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Cultural Anthropology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 2018. We seek applicants, with a regional area focus on Mexico, who specialize in political anthropology, ethnohistory, migration studies, media/visual anthropology or applied anthropology. Preference will be given to candidates whose areas of research interests and expertise complement, rather than duplicate, our current faculty specialties.

The teaching load for this position is two courses each semester. The successful candidate will teach courses in their areas of expertise and will contribute to the rotation of core courses, including Introduction to Cultural Anthropology. We have a preference for scholars who have an interest in involving undergraduates in research and/or field activity, an ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment, and a commitment to service. Applicant should have a Ph.D. and a strong record of publication and grant funding.

We seek a medical anthropologist. Geographical area is open though preference will be given to scholars with regional foci that complement the department’s present strengths. We are especially interested in scholars whose specialization includes a focus on one or more of the following: reproductive health, environment, migration, mental health/trauma and resilience, chronic disease, health and human rights, and global epidemics.
